Influences\/Inspirations<\/strong><\/p>\n

The films of\u00a0Krzysztof Kie\u015blowski continue to have a profound impact on me. \u00a0The Decalogue<\/em>\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0The Double Life of V\u00e9ronique\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>are especially close to my heart. \u00a0I’d go as far as to say that I literally identify my sensibility, as a person as well as an artist, with the themes portrayed \u00a0in them and the general tone that permeates throughout.<\/p>\n

Writing about The Decalogue, Nancy Ramsey wrote in Kie\u015blowski’s Reasons for Living<\/em><\/strong>: “Themes of chance, fate, honesty, the possibility of a divine presence, and social and personal responsibility are all broached through10 stories of individuals who\u00a0Kie\u015blowski said, “suddenly realize that they’re going round and round in circles, that they’re not achieving what they want.” \u00a0What governs our lives? Is is chance? Or is there some controlling presence behind the visible reality?” (from Video, 2000)<\/p>\n

Kie\u015blowski stated that the main theme of\u00a0The Double Life of V\u00e9ronique <\/em><\/strong>is to pay attention to one’s life and to know that one’s actions have an impact on people we know and don’t know.<\/p>\n

In less then two weeks I’ll be back in Warsaw. \u00a0Back in Poland. \u00a0Back to continue the work – the project started in 2011. \u00a0The ‘Tenderness of Things” grew from its inception, evolved, paused and staggered. \u00a0Continued to declare itself. \u00a0Over the past year the book form of it emerged with a welcomed clarity, which led to a revision of the title. \u00a0Thus “the tenderness.”<\/p>\n

Above, yet another take, another consideration. Krzysio, above, my childhood friend, has a framing shop below the apartment I lived in once.<\/p>\n
